Family Size

First of all I want to show the figure of the population of the United Kingdom, it numbered 57.4 million in 1990. And it reported that by around 1870 a fall in the birth rate became apparent and continued, except for the severe disruption of World War I, as a more or less linear decline for 60 years until 1930s, when it reached a low at about the same level as that today.

I think it means that the size of family become smaller than before in the Britain, and when I went to the Internet I found a information that from an average Victorian family size of five to six children ever-born, but now, it is rarely happened in the Britain. I asked for my neighbors about the size of their families (four of them are from the Britain), only one of them has two brothers and a sister, two of them have a brother or a sister, and one is only children. So I think the trends in the size of families in Britain would be smaller families… And as the birth rate decrease and the elderly people become more and more today, it leads to many problems such as decreasing the future proportion of working age people, the government would serve more subsidies health care and nursing house, it means that the expenditure of the finance would become larger to the government.

In conclusion, it is not just a problem about the size of families, and it also about all the society and finance problem in the Britain.

Welcome&Families

This week the teacher asked us to talk something about the British Families, in the fact I had not any ideas before I came here, but now I live in the dormitory of the campus and all my neighbours are from the UK, so through talking with them I got some idea about this topic now.

First of all, the most different between Chinese families and British families is that because of the birth control policy in China, a family should have only one child, but there is no limited to the British families, most of my neighbours have at least one brother or sister, and it is said that it is normally in the British families. Secondly, the parents and the children often like the friends in the British families, the parents would always encourage the children doing something themselves and with their own ideas, and maybe the children would do the part-time job to earn their pocket money themselves since they were very young. At last, the children often live themselves after 18 years old in the Britain, that means they are adult...

I think it is just a part of the British families and i need to do more discovering if I wanted to get more information about this topic...

The First Month In The UK

This is my first month in the UK, everything is fresh for me. I live in the dormitory in the campus, all my neighbors are the foreign people, and they all come from different country, but they can speak English very well, much better than me, they are all friendly and help me to do lots of things like telling where the supermarket nearest from the campus and where to enroll and so on. It makes me feeling easier to stay the strange place.

And today I am on the class of British Society, the teacher asked us to have our own blogs, and it said that it could make easy to study and communicate, because it is convenient to go to the Internet and it is more faster, so, it is my first article of my blog.

I hope i should have a successful and happily term of my first year here.
